H.I.CO.JO. Joins the Civil Society Alliance for Democracy
The Hellenic Institute of Constructive Journalism (H.I.CO.JO.) is proud to announce its participation in the Civil Society Alliance for Democracy, a broad and dynamic coalition of civil society organisations united around a shared goal: strengthening democratic institutions, promoting transparency, fostering open public dialogue, and encouraging active citizen participation.
This alliance emerges at a particularly critical moment. Democratic institutions and public debate are facing increased pressure; citizens are distancing themselves from public life, trust in the media is declining, and public discourse is often dominated by polarized or extreme voices. These challenges underline the need for a different approach—one rooted in collaboration, trust, evidence-based communication, and meaningful engagement.
The Alliance aims to serve as a diverse and cooperative platform where member organisations can:
- design and implement joint initiatives (events, dialogues, awareness campaigns),
- exchange best practices and resources that support democratic participation,
- actively contribute to a more vibrant, constructive public sphere.
H.I.CO.JO.’s participation aligns fully with the Institute’s mission: to strengthen journalism with a strong social orientation, to ensure that the voice of civil society is heard, and to cultivate a culture of dialogue, trust, and responsibility within the media and the broader public domain.
Through its involvement in the Alliance, H.I.CO.JO.:
- works to create fertile ground for constructive journalism and social responsibility,
- expands its network, reaching new audiences and partners within civil society,
- reaffirms its commitment to a democracy that is not only institutional, but alive, inclusive, and participatory.
